Chattanooga to Host two thousand seventeen IRONMAN 70.Trio World Championship

The event will come back to North America in 2017.

IRONMAN announced today that it has chosen Chattanooga, Tennessee to host the two thousand seventeen IRONMAN 70.Trio World Championship. The championship race will be a two-day event with the professional and age-group women racing on Saturday, September nine and the professional and age-group dudes racing on Sunday, September Ten.

The IRONMAN 70.Trio World Championship is the pinnacle event in the global IRONMAN 70.Three triathlon series. IRONMAN expects more than 185,000 registered athletes to race at over one hundred IRONMAN 70.Three races around the world via the two thousand seventeen qualifying season. From those races, more than Four,000 athletes will qualify to race in the two thousand seventeen IRONMAN 70.Three World Championship.

"Since 2006, the IRONMAN 70.Trio race series has grown exponentially around the world and has seen global success with the annual switch in host region of the IRONMAN 70.Three World Championship. I am thrilled to announce that Chattanooga, Tennessee has been selected as the host city for 2017," said Andrew Messick, Chief Executive Officer for IRONMAN. "Chattanooga is a first-class city, fully qualified and well-equipped to produce an exceptional event, and we look forward to providing our athletes with an memorable championship race practice."

Known via the Southeastern U.S. as the Scenic City due to its proximity to Lookout Mountain, striking riverfront and vibrant downtown, Chattanooga lures athletes with its dramatic backdrop, idyllic weather and low-key southern charm. Already host to annual IRONMAN and IRONMAN 70.Trio events, Chattanooga provides a rapid course with a swim in the Tennessee Sea. Four bridges cross the sea over the swim and a pedestrian Riverwalk runs along the entire swim course making it ideal for spectators. Chattanooga is utter of attractions, eclectic dining catches sight of and good places to stay.

The two thousand sixteen IRONMAN 70.Three World Championship shifts to the Southern Hemisphere for the very first time – in Queensland, Australia’s Sunshine Coast – before returning to North America in 2017.
