Ten times you hated being in a group talk on Whatsapp

Ten times you hated being in a group talk on Whatsapp

Because as much as you love your friends, sometimes you just want to thrust that mute button

IF you’re a fan of Whatsapp, you’re very likely using it RIGHT now to sort out Friday night drinks with friends.

The group talk option is good for keeping up with gossip and inviting numerous people to an event at once.

But at times it can be badly annoying – providing you irrational feelings of frustration towards some of your closest friends.

Do any of these sound familiar?

‘You have one hundred fifty fresh messages’

Ever glanced down at your phone to see you have ridiculous amounts of fresh messages, and absolutely no time to catch up?

Busy day at work? Been overlooking your phone at dinner so you don’t look rude? Gone to bed before your friends?

Prepare to get VERY behind on the group talk.

Photos automatically downloading

Is your phone’s media album clogged up with random memes, screen shots, and unflattering selfies your friends take on a night out?

It might be time to turn the autosave function OFF.

When a group talk gets taken over by two people

Just two or three of the group meeting up? They should take the talk elsewhere.

But often people don’t think to do this, and automatically go to the group talk.

No, I don’t care that you’re running five minutes late. No, we don’t need to know that your bus is stuck in traffic.

Left behind your brolly? Still not relevant.

Zero memory

The chattier your friends are, the more precious memory they will be taking up on your phone.

Do you indeed need a fresh 64GB iPhone, or do you just need your friends to stop bugging you?

When you can’t bring yourself to leave the talk, even tho’ it has nothing to do with you

Sometimes people begin group talks for specific events – group holidays, nights out, days at the races, sporting events…

Nothing’s more annoying than not being able to go to the event, and being permanently reminded of how excited all your friends are.

But sometimes the group talk is just too funny to leave. So much banter.

Spoiler alert!

Missed this week’s gig of Fine British Bake Off?

Better hope your friends aren’t fans, or they’ll almost certainly have told you who get kicked off before you have time to catch up.

Being part of a group talk makes ‘fear of missing out’ one hundred times worse.

Except for when everyone’s wailing about how hungover they are. Then you’ll be feeling pretty smug!

Gossip chick

Whatsapp will turn you into the Largest gossip going, and you may end up hating yourself for it.

Reminisce, not everything needs to be collective in the family group talk – you don’t want to give Excellent Aunty Marge a heart attack.

Accidentally posting in the wrong group talk

Yet another time to leave your phone WELL alone after a duo of drinks.

Discussing a group present or surprise party for one of your friends?

DON’T do it in a talk they’re part of.

Hello, is anybody there?

Half the time in the group talks, people aren’t even engaging in conversation – just telling random facts about themselves.

Reminisce all those times you expected sympathy when squealing about your hangover, only to have someone send a random anecdote in response?

Not exactly a flowing conversation, is it? This one may be a good group talk to ditch.

Ten times you hated being in a group talk on Whatsapp

Ten times you hated being in a group talk on Whatsapp

Because as much as you love your friends, sometimes you just want to shove that mute button

Been disregarding your phone at dinner so you don’t look rude?

Do you truly need a fresh 64GB iPhone, or do you just need your friends to stop bugging you?

When you can’t bring yourself to leave the talk, even tho’ it has nothing to do with you

Sometimes people begin group talks for specific events – group holidays, nights out, days at the races, sporting events…

Nothing’s more annoying than not being able to go to the event, and being permanently reminded of how excited all your friends are.

But sometimes the group talk is just too funny to leave. So much banter.

Spoiler alert!

Missed this week’s scene of Fine British Bake Off?

Better hope your friends aren’t fans, or they’ll almost certainly have told you who get kicked off before you have time to catch up.

Being part of a group talk makes ‘fear of missing out’ one hundred times worse.

Except for when everyone’s squealing about how hungover they are. Then you’ll be feeling pretty smug!

Gossip damsel

Whatsapp will turn you into the Fattest gossip going, and you may end up hating yourself for it.

Reminisce, not everything needs to be collective in the family group talk – you don’t want to give Good Aunty Marge a heart attack.

Reminisce all those times you expected sympathy when shrieking about your hangover, only to have someone send a random anecdote in response?

Not exactly a flowing conversation, is it? This one may be a good group talk to ditch.
