E5-571-5552 Webcam not working

Okay, the issue I am having is just like the subject says. For some reason, even after installing the driver for the webcam in my E5-571-5552 computer, no flash webcam viewer and even the one Windows 7/8 application for webcam testing that I have found can use my webcam.

It is shown in the list as a webcam that can be used, but when I attempt to use it, the screen just stays blank.

Anyone have a fix for this issue? I have looked for a driver on the Acer support website and unluckily they do not have a driver for the webcam for this model of computer.

Sorry. Don’t blame you for being cautious. I’m usually the same way.

Re: E5-571-5552 Webcam not working

No, it shows that it is working decently (no yellow arrow on it in Device Manager) so I’m indeed mystified as to what is causing this issue.

Only thing I can think of is that the generic driver (it is using a Microsoft HD Webcam generic driver and has since the computer was bought) is not the correct driver for the webcam.

Um. I’ll be fair here, I believe that site is a scam and I’m not going to attempt it. Acer needs to post a direct link to a driver that works for this model notebook (I’ve talked with other people and they are having the same issue).

Re: E5-571-5552 Webcam not working

Okay, now this is getting Truly weird. It will work with the Windows 8.1 Camera App just fine. However, with any Flash app via the internet, it wil not work.

Attempted in Internet Explorer, attempted in Google Chrome thirty six and 39, attempted in Firefox and Waterfox, and even Opera twelve and Opera 23. In none of those will Flash webcam access work.

Beginning to wonder if there is a compatibility issue inbetween Flash apps and the webcam only.

Edit: Okay, the webcam is working, it is an issue with Chrome/Firefox/Waterfox. Ultimately got it working with Opera twelve and twenty three after doing the ‘disable and then enable webcam’ trick.

Put in a bug report to Google and Mozilla to have them fix this issue.
